Aerodine Composites, LLC is a company dedicated to the science of advanced composite technologies. We offer expertise in the manufacture, alteration and repair of high performance, light weight composite structures using carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass laminates.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Composite Technician in our Composite Manufacturing and Repair Department.

This position is responsible for hand layup of composite material into tooling molds using a variety of specialized hand tools. Familiarity with composite fabrication and vacuum bagging processes is a plus but not required. The candidate must be able to read and understand blue prints, schematics, and written work instructions.

The ideal Composite Technician will consistently maintain a high level of quality workmanship and will support policies and procedures upheld by Manufacturing and Quality departments.

The Composite Technician will also be responsible for maintaining work records and completing all applicable planning paperwork throughout the fabrication process.

The Composite Technician will also assist with the development of shop aids and fixtures and promote Lean manufacturing initiatives to optimize quality and productivity and is encouraged to identify process improvements as appropriate. The candidate must work closely with Lead Composite Technicians and Supervisors to meet build requirements and schedules.

The Composite Technician must have the ability to logically plan work steps and have good time management, interpersonal and communication skills and be able to adapt positively to a growing and changing work environment.

Summary

Aerodine Composites, LLC is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team in Indianapolis, Indiana. We specialize in the design and manufacturing of high-performance, lightweight composite structures for industries such as motorsports, aerospace, defense, and medical. We offer structural assemblies, composite repair, short run, and volume production, as well as research & development services. As a key member of our company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality in the manufacturing of our composite’s structures. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing quality control processes and procedures, conducting inspections and audits, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations in accordance to AS 9100 standards. In addition, this exciting opportunity will require “hands-on” all aspects of quality and parts inspection.

The Quality Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and operations to drive continuous improvement initiatives and resolve any quality issues that may arise. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment where your expertise will directly contribute to the success of our company. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in quality and mechanical engineering, with experience in one or more of the following: motorsports, aerospace, defense, sporting goods, or medical industries. Strong communication and training skills are essential as well as a proven track record of driving process improvement and achieving quality goals is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • As the Quality Engineer, you shall help to develop and implement quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • You will excel in conducting regular audits, inspections, and tests to identify areas for improvement and address non-conformance issues.
  • We expect you to conduct quality Inspections on physical parts, tools, molds, and materials as needed to execute quality requirements of the internal and external customer.
  • We expect you to analyze data and performance metrics to monitor product quality and identify trends or patterns that may require corrective actions.
  • You shall collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and operations to establish quality control processes throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  • You will oversee and execute the development and maintenance of quality documentation.
  • You will collaborate on standard operating procedures, work instructions, and inspection criteria with the engineering, production, and operations team.
  • Establish supplier evaluations and certifications to ensure their capability to meet quality standards and specifications.
  • You shall lead internal and external quality audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and promoting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • You will provide training and guidance to technicians on quality-related topics, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence in all aspects of our operations.

Requirements

  • As the Quality Engineer, you must have a strong understanding of the quality management system AS 9100.
  • You must have experience conducting the “hands-on” aspect of quality inspections.
  • You must have experience implementing and maintaining quality control processes to ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements.
  • You must possess excellent analytical skills for identifying areas of improvement in production processes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • It is essential that you have effective communication and negotiating skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present quality reports to stakeholders.
  • You must be proficient in conducting root cause analysis and using statistical tools to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong ability to develop and implement robust inspection plans and procedures to ensure the highest level of product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
  • You must demonstrate the ability to motivate and inspire technicians to achieve quality objectives.

Compensation:

  • $60K-$70K Per Year (Based on Experience)

Qualifications
